The Best Ever Bluebell Display on Dartmoor with a backdrop of Haytor!
Be sure to pack up a picnic if you follow my footsteps on this next adventure as you will want to linger as soon as you see the bluebells on Holwell Lawn. In fact, you can see the bluebells from the car so if you don't feel like it or can't walk much this is a great spot that you can enjoy too!
Haytor from Holwell Lawn
There is a really straightforward, path from Holwell Lawn that beckons you towards to the infamous Hound Tor! This mysterious rock pile is said to have been the inspiration for Conan Doyle's book 'The Hound of the Baskervilles'. My own 'hound' certainly seemed to pick up on the charged and eerie atmosphere!:
Just south of Hound Tor is an impressive medieval village which is worth a look before returning to the car via the impressive Greator Rocks.
